I grew up on the Isle of Man before studying for my BA in English and Philosophy at the University of York.

After graduating I got accepted for the MA filmmaking course at the London Film School with a couple of shorts I’d made whilst at university.  Whilst at LFS I shot a number of shorts that gained official selections and prizes at various international festivals.  My entire film school training was using 16mm and 35mm film, so since graduating in 2010 I’ve expanded my digital expertise and experience with kit ranging from digital cinema cameras to broadcast cameras and DSLRs , although I definitely still have a soft spot for celluloid.

I work in both fiction and documentary.  I’m interested in making work that challenges its audience, comes at a story from an unusual angle and that asks to be told in a distinctive visual style, be it fiction or non-fiction.

Blackbird, my first feature film, was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA and the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013 where it was named “Best of the Fest”.   I shot my second feature, Wake Me Up, in Moscow at the start of 2015.
